10 October 2016: At the recent Parliamentary inquiry hearings into the TPP, lawyer for Philip Morris Sam Luttrell told the committee that there was “hysteria" around the Phillip Morris case over plain packaging laws in Australia.
7 October 2016: Unions, environment groups and AFTNET supporters rallied in Melbourne today against the TPP outside of the national parliamentary inquiry hearings being held around the country. The rally followed other recent protests in Sydney and Perth.
Protesters called for Labor, the Greens and the Nick Xenophon team to #BlockTheTPP in the Senate, where the Government does not have a majority.
October 6, 2016: Diverse community groups including AFTINET, Unions WA and The Greens banded together to rally to Stop the TPP in Perth on Wednesday. The rally was part of nationwide protests coinciding with the TPP Parliamentary Inquiry hearings around the country.
October 3, 2016: Portugal is facing a €42 million ISDS claim after it cancelled a deal to privatise part of Lisbon’s public transport system. It’s yet another case of ISDS being used to intimidate governments for democratic decision-making in the public interest.
September 26, 2016: Around 200 people rallied outside the national parliamentary inquiry hearings into the TPP today in Sydney. A broad range of community groups were represented including unions, GetUp, Greenpeace, APHEDA and the Catholic Social Justice Council.

According to recent media reports the US is pushing Australia to agree to increase monopoly rights for lifesaving biologics drugs in the TPP.
The National Parliamentary inquiry into the Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal between Australia, the US and 10 other Pacific Rim countries will be in Sydney on September 26.

Sixty diverse Australian civil society organisations, representing two million Australians, recently wrote to all Labor, independent and minor party MPs and Senators to call for a Senate inquiry into the TPP.
