Europe: 120 Scholars speak out against ISDS Provisions

120 academic experts in trade and investment law, EU law, international law and human rights, constitutional law, private law, political economy and other fields have spoken out against planned provisions on investor-state dispute settlement (ISDS) in the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership.

This adds to the growing opposition to ISDS worldwide.

Concerned about their water supply, the community in El Salvador protested a gold mine operated by Canadian company Pacific Rim, and the government responded. Now El Salvador is being sued in an international tribunal for millions of dollars  over their refusal to issue a permit.
