Obama will launch ‘full-fledged’ TPP push

17 August 2016

According to reports in The Australian today, Barak Obama has pledged to send a TPP bill to Congress in the final "lame duck" months of his presidency (that is, a session of Congress which could be held after the election but before the new President and Congress come into office).

As part of the push, the White House has organised 30 pro-TPP events for pro-TPP Democrat and Republican members of Congress.

Although the deal still faces heavy opposition in the US, this latest news highlights the fact that we cannot be complacent here in Australia and need to continue to campaign so that our own politicians reject the deal.
